Hello everyone!

My name is Natalie and I am an IAP Trainee at Lufthansa Passage.  Right now I am doing my assignment in beautiful Dubai together with my friend and colleague Tinashe from Johannesburg.

I am glad to tell you a bit about my week here in Dubai.

I will start with waking up in the morning. This is already great cause we live in the 15th floor from where you can see part of the increadible skyline.  The skyscrapers are all pretty impressive. They all have different shapes and different heights. The tallest of them all is the Burj Khalifa which is also the tallest building in the world with 828 meters. On some days you can barely see the top of it because it is either cloudy or foggy. This wheater is typical for this time of year. They say we chose the best time to come to Dubai because in summer it can get up to 50° Celsius.

Starting the day, we decided to see the downtown of Dubai with it’s, you can assume whats following now, biggest mall in the world – the Dubai Mall. Yes, everything here needs to be the biggest :) So arriving in this mall is already  quite an adventure. It even has a seperat denim section only with jeans brands, indoor market with mainly jewlery and a shoe section à la Sex in the City with Brands like Mano Blahnik. Next to it you can sit in the most stylish Vogue Café. It is definitely a pradise for shoe and clothes lovers.  But this mall does not only offer the biggest variety of all famous brands you can also visit the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and the Ice Rink.

After the Mall it was time for some fresh air. The Dubai Marina is a nice place to have dinner and, like the locals do, smoke nargila. The traditional dishes are mainly from the middle eastern cuisine: Libanese Falafel with Humus, Lamb and other meat dishes. But also other asian dishes are very common like indian, pakistani, chinese and philipini as well as persian and turkish. Tip: drink a Lemonade with Nana Mint :P

This is it for today. Tomorrow I will take you through a crazy day at the local markets. For all the ladies : it is almost like in a real Sex and the City movie.

Stay tuned! Looking forward to write for you again :)

xoxo Natalie
